Survey Says ...
Based on the recent Outpatient Survey results, patients and families scored the Alberta Children's Hospital Clinics
at a 9.3/10!
From May to December 2017, 69 outpatient clinics participated in handing out surveys to their patients and families. "We wanted to capture the patient and family experience at each individual clinic and gauge how we're doing as a site" explains Jeanette Deere, ACH Project Manager
The survey went through multiple revisions before being launched with input from CAYAC, the Family Advisory Council and site leadership. The survey included specific questions about a patient and family's experience at a clinic appointment along with an area for comments themed into the four cornerstones of patient and family centred care: information sharing, respect, participation, and collaboration.
Overall, there are a lot of areas to celebrate! "We are doing well in most areas and we see opportunity for improvement in others," says Deere. Each clinic now has its own clinic report and they are tasked with picking two areas to improve upon based on the feedback from families in their clinics. It is expected that the next outpatient survey will be conducted after the province-wide launch of Connect Care.
